STARTED IN KALOMO. BUILT IN KITWE.
> EduTrack is a Zambian-built school management platform designed around the realities of running a Zambian school — ECZ, Cambridge and ZECF 2023 grading, parent SMS, modest budgets, and unstable connectivity.
Replace the paper register, not the teacher.
Most Zambian schools still record marks in exercise books, copy them into mark schedules by hand, and post results on a notice board. EduTrack is the digital backbone that takes that workload off teachers and head teachers without changing how a Zambian school actually works day-to-day.
We focus on the boring, important things: getting Term 2 results into a parent's phone, generating a clean PDF report card, and producing the kind of class analysis a DEBS officer can actually read.
- [01]Triple-curriculum ready. ECZ 1–9, primary letter grades, full Cambridge IGCSE & A-Level, plus ZECF 2023 3-6-4-2 structure support.
- [02]Mobile-first, low-bandwidth. Designed for the phone in the staff room, not a desktop in head office.
- [03]Parents over portals. Most parents do not log in. They get an SMS with the result and a link to verify — or check instantly at /check-results.
- [04]Schools own their data. Export anytime. No lock-in.
From a VBA macro to a national platform.
The pilot in Kalomo district.
The first version of EduTrack was an Excel workbook with VBA macros. It was built in 2023 by the founder — then a third-year ICT with Education student at the Copperbelt University's Kapasa Makasa Campus — in collaboration with Mr. Chilala Monga, a teacher at Kalomo Primary School. Three schools in Kalomo district ran that VBA system for a full term: entering marks, calculating grades, and generating report cards off a shared spreadsheet passed between teachers on USB drives.
Rewriting it properly.
The VBA macro hit its limits quickly — data couldn't leave a single laptop, SMS was impossible, and adding a new school meant emailing a spreadsheet around. EduTrack v2 is a full Laravel-based multi-tenant web platform rewritten from the ground up. The import command for the original VBA data still ships with the codebase; the schools that piloted v1 migrated their records directly.
Nationwide, still small-team.
EduTrack now serves primary, secondary, and combined schools across Zambia from the Kitwe office at 1038 Accra Road. Every feature still traces back to a specific request from a real school — a head teacher who wanted attendance summaries for the PTA meeting, a class teacher who wanted absence alerts to go straight to the parent, a bursar who needed a record of every SMS purchase. We do not add features unless a school has asked for them twice.
